Sometimes called the Winged Sasquatch
Aerial Humanoid Cryptid
Batsquatch is described as a large, humanoid creature resembling Sasquatch in overall build, but possessing enormous bat-like wings extending from its shoulders or arms. The body is covered in dark fur, often reported as black or deep brown, while the face appears more animalistic, with pronounced ears, sharp teeth, and glowing or reflective eyes.
Estimates of height range from six to nine feet when standing upright, with wingspans reported to exceed twenty feet when fully extended. Clawed hands and feet suggest both climbing and grasping capability.
Sightings are closely associated with the forested and volcanic regions of Washington State, most notably near Mount St. Helens and surrounding wilderness areas. Reports often place Batsquatch in rugged, remote terrain where dense forests give way to rocky slopes and volcanic features.
Encounters are frequently described near cave systems, ridgelines, and areas with limited human access.
Batsquatch is typically reported at night or during low-light conditions. Witnesses describe sudden appearances, loud screeching or shrill cries, and rapid movement through the air. Unlike ground-dwelling cryptids, Batsquatch is associated with brief, startling encounters rather than prolonged observation.
The creature is often perceived as aggressive or intimidating, though no confirmed attacks have been documented. Some accounts suggest erratic or distressed behavior, possibly linked to environmental disruption rather than territorial defense.
Reports of Batsquatch emerged primarily in the late 20th century, with a notable increase following the eruption of Mount St. Helens. Evidence consists of eyewitness accounts, alleged photographs, and anecdotal recordings of unusual sounds.
Unlike Sasquatch sightings, Batsquatch reports are fewer and more geographically concentrated, lending the creature a narrower but more intense regional identity.
Batsquatch differs markedly from other Pacific Northwest beings. Where Bigfoot is elusive and Cadborosaurus distant, Batsquatch is sudden and confrontational—an encounter rather than a presence.
Whether the creature represents an undiscovered species, a misidentified known animal, or a folklore response to environmental upheaval remains unresolved. Its emergence alongside volcanic activity suggests a story shaped as much by place and moment as by biology.
Observation sporadic. Exercise caution.
